Outreach AccA Teaching Method
We guarantee you success ! If you follow our guidance and do not pass the exams, we will continue teaching you for free until you pass.....
Outreach specializes in preparing non native speaking students for programmes with examination held in English. The ACCA professional and CAT programmes are such examples.
The main disadvantage non English native students have is obviously the lack of English language skill. Students whose mother tongue is not English have difficulty understanding the concept in English. They also have problem expressing the concept in English.
Outreach has designed an innovative training programme to overcome the disadvantage non English native students have. Each of our teaching programme is divided into four phases. They are summarized as follows.
1. We teach you the concept in your native language.
2. We repeat the concept in English so that you can relate concept to the English terms.
3. Next we design an innovative method to get you to read and understand the concepts on your own in English.
4. Finally we teach you in a complementary English writing course how to express your ideas in simple sentences.
Outreach Dual Language Teaching Method ..... assuring you success at the AccA exams...
Each module is conducted over a 15 weeks period.
Each week students are required to attend class online or at the premises of one of Outreach Partner Institutions. Each session is about 4 hours consisting of:
1. Viewing a lecture in the native language of the student.
2. Viewing the same lecture in English language.
While you are viewing the lecture in the native language, you should take the opportunity to fully understand the subject matter.
During the review of the lecture in English language, take the opportunity to relate the terms that you understood from viewing the lecture in your native language to that us in the English context. Remember that eventually you will have to understand the concept in English, and also be able to express the same concept in English in the examinations.
Changing language is as easy as clicking on the alternative language box. You may change language as often as you want - simply by clicking on the appropriate language box, and the lesson will be stream to you in the selected language from that point forward. If you wish to have a better view of the lecturer, click on the "<<>>" enlarge video check box to get a four-time enlargement of the lecturer's face. You may also pause the lesson but click on the Pause button. Clcik on the button again to resume.
For classes conducted at the premise of Outreach's Partner Institutions, a tutor with local language capability may be available to answer questions. For online students, questions may be fielded as text, voice or drawing messages to online tutors using Outreach's innovative multimedia interface.
For text messages, simply type in the input message box at the bottom. Your messages will appear in the message box at the top. You can also ask your question using voice messages or drawing messages. To do this simply click on the "Speak" or "Draw" buttons. Another dialogue box will appear for to record your voice message, or to draw the diagram.
All the questions asked by you, via text, voice or drawing messages will be uploaded to the forum of the course. They will be answered by module lecturers, and you are able to view the answers or reply by logging onto the course fourm. You could also engage the lecturers on questions relating to the module on the module forum. Some lecturers may want to schedule regular sessions for students to log onto the forum so that everyone can have an immediate response to questions that they may have.
You may also view questions asked by other students. The forum could also provide a place for students to interact with each others and discuss the concepts relating to the module.
If you do not fully comprehend some parts of the lecture, you can always go back to the lecture site to re-view the lecture again. You do not need to listen to the entire lecture again. You can skip over those parts that you already understood, and only listen to those parts that you have problems. To do this, you can go to the "Nav" navigation page. On the navigation page, you will see thumbnails of lecturer's screen at various parts throughout the lecture. This allow you to quickly identify which part of the lecture that you will want to re-listen again. Simply double click on the appropriate thumbnail, and you will brought directly to that part of the lecture.
1. After attending each lecture, students are required to logged onto their Outreach account to do a MCQ- based evaluation test. The test is in English and is based on Outreach's comprehensive lecture notes. The test will reinforce your understanding of the lecture (in English) you just attended. There is such a test for each chapter of the module. As each module has between 16-30 chapters, students are expected to do one to two such tests each week. These tests are automatically marked by the system, and students will get the results of the test immediately on completing the tests. Students performance in the test are recorded by the system, and students will be duly informed of their progress in the module at regular interval. Students not performing up to the mark for passing the AccA exams will be informed automatically by the system via emails or SMS on the remedial actions to take. Your success is our success. We track your progress by the minute ! We will remind you and remind you, again and again, to follow our remedial actions. We stop working only when we know you are ready for the exam...
2. At regular interval, students will be given assignments that are structured in ways similar to the final exam of the module. This will also be online, and students are expected to go online to do the assignments. The assignment will be graded by tutors and students will receive grades comments on the assignments.
- Towards the end of the module, there will be a full length mock exam. This mock exam will be graded and students will receive comments.
- Each student will receive a report card on their performance in each module, and the corrective action (if any) that the students should take to enhance their chance of success at the ACCA examinations.
